Christmas Stocking

Whilst browsing Pinterest last week, and losing hours and hours – sheesh that place is dangerous, I saw some cute Christmas stocking cards.  I had an idea to make an ornament instead of a card to give to special friends so they can use it again and again.  A few hours later this is what I came up with.  I love it!

bev-rochester-vintage-christmas-stocking

I downloaded a few free templates off the internet and cobbled/adapted them till I got the shape I liked.  It roughly measures 7.5” at the longest points.  I cut this from mountboard, my local picture framers so very kindly donated some to the cause.  Then the fun began.  Out came the Christmas papers and embellies.

The embellies are mostly from Wild Orchid CraftsPoinsettia large, pulled apart then spritzed with pearl shimmer then edges inked then reassembled with strong glue and finished off with a flatback pearls in a gold flower; small poinsettia I did the same but finished off with a gold finding and pearl.  Holly leaves, berries from the gold Christmas berry spray, and open roses in 20mm, 15mm and 10mm.  I also added a couple of gold bells to the ribbon bow and finished off with a wooden sentiment that I painted with gold paint then slathered in gold stickles.

I finished off the front with a couple of sentiment tags.

And a look at the back, where I have added a sentiment and left space to address the “card”.  I really had fun making this and have quite a few ideas for more using different shapes.

Two Cards

Hello everybody,

It's Klaudia here with you today sharing my two new cards.
My intention was to make the first one very delicate. It has many layers. The main decoration is bunch of flowers in purple, lilac and white colors.

The base of the second card ist kraft paper. Flowers in white and aqua colors in my opinion match there perfectly.

Thanks for stopping by :)
I wish you a great day!

Wedding anniversary giftbox

Hello everybody,

Today I would like to show you a giftbox that I made for an aunt and uncle by marriage who will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary next Saturday. I have had this lovely heart shape wooden box in my cupboard for ages waiting for a chance to use it and I thought this was the perfect time.
The sentiment is in Dutch as I'm from Holland and so are the celebrating couple but I'm sure you can guess what it means. I used a digi image from a new company for me, JustInkLined, it's called Ted and Agnes. I was in doubt about using this funny image or a more romantic one but the hubby insisted that his aunt and uncle would love the funny image.
A close up of the image, as always colored with Copic Markers and 3D paper pieced.
A close up of the gorgeous flowers in the right corner of the box. I adore the Magnolia's and the pretty Apple Blossoms.
And a close up of the flowers on the bottom of the box.
I finished the box with gorgeous lace along the side of the box. Absolutely adore this lace but as I type this post it's not in stock in the store. I'm not sure if it'll be back on a later date (hope so because I just about used all of it) but I'll leave a link on the bottom to the lace folder so you can see for yourselves if it's in store as you read this.

Hope you like my giftbox and more importantly, hope the couple that we will be giving the box to on their party Saturday will like it. Have a great Wednesday everybody!!

Hugs,

My First Inspiration - Olga

Hello everyone!

Olga here. Today I prepared for you a canvas inspiration. I need to say that some of the flowers from Wild Orchids I've known for a long time, but some of them are new to me. And since I opened my first pack I'm delighted.  The flowers are perfectly done, with care for small details so they look just perfect.

They are made from high quality materials.  You really discover this when you use some mists and media on them and you will see difference between good paper and bad paper at once. These ones are very good and take color amazingly equally and I love things I can do with them.

Back to my inspiration. I won't tell you about the details, but if you want to know how I made this piece, please watch my videos. In one I'm showing how to create a beautiful natural rose branch. In the second one you can see how to use the branch in a mixed media project .

So here they are:

Products I used:
White Mulberry Paper Magnolias
Mixed 2-tone Mulberry Paper Cherry Blossoms
Green Mulberry Paper Rose Leaves 1½" (40mm)
Washi Fabric Tape
Autumn Gold Organza Rose Trim
Mixed Metal Embellishments

Welcome from Klaudia

Hello, my name is Klaudia.
I'm from Poland, living in Switzerland with my family. I'm a housewife and mother of two little sons.
I discovered scrapbooking about 3 years ago. Crafting is my remedy for stress and a form of escape from the routine of housework
I love creating and using flowers. I often also distress paper in my artwork.
I am very happy and excited to join the Wild Orchid Crafts Design Team

You can see some of my work on my blog: kszp.blogspot.com

Today I want to show you two quite different cards.

The first one is in pastel colors and has a bouquet of beautiful white flowers.

The second one is colorful. The main element of this card is a wreath, which I decorated with bunches of flowers in various colors.

Thank you very much for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful day :)

Klaudia

Love Me Do

Hello everybody,

Today I want to show you a card I did some time ago. This card left the box it was kept in since I made it the past weekend and while finishing it to give away I realized I haven't shown this card on the Wild Orchid Crafts blog yet and since I personally really love the flowers on this card I felt it was about time to do so.
The adorable image is Love me Do by Wee Stamps. I first decided on the red and white color combination for the card, picked out my papers which are mostly red and decided the embellishments needed to be strictly white.
A close up of the image as always colored with Copic Markers and 3D paper pieced.
And a close up of the gorgeous flowers with just a touch of glitter on them. I absolutely love working with Trellis roses in the center of a flower cluster as they immediately give the cluster something luxurious.

Hope you like my card and find some inspiration in it. Have a fabulous day!

Hugs,

Materials used from Wild Orchid Crafts:
White Self Adhesive Pearls 3mm
White Trellis Roses 35mm
White Sweetheart Blossoms
White Open Roses 25mm
White Open Roses 10mm
The swirl of pearls that I used was from stash but WOC now has some gorgeous white pearl (and rhinestone) flourishes that I wish I had owned when I made this card HERE

Sally with Snowball and a bit of snow here and there

Hello everybody,

Today I'd like to show you my second Christmas card of this year, even though it doesn't have a sentiment on the outside :). I decided to try out an image by an artist who is pretty new to me, Conie Fong.
Isn't that image just adorable? She's called Sally and Snowball and is available as a rubber stamp HERE and as a digi HERE. I've added some snow here and there for an extra wintery card. I love the wintery effect a bit of snow gives to flowers. I think that way you can use pretty much any flower on a Christmas card.
Here is a close up of sweet little Sally, as always colored with Copic markers and 3D paper pieced.
A close up of the pretty flowers with their snow.
And a close up of the flowers on the other side of the image with the gorgeous Crown Pins.

Hope you like my card! Have a fabulous day everybody!!

Hugs,

Sara

Evening all, I’m so late with my post this week.  I’m loving the pastel tones in this new paper pad I picked up the other week, First Editions Bella Rose – LOVE this paper pad

bev-rochester-saturated-canary-sara

I used some of the new products (as well as the old) from Wild Orchid CraftsMixed pastel magnolias, cosmos daisies, open roses, sweetheart blossoms, pearl loop spray stems (that I used as leaves), pearls, butterfly from the mixed metal embellishments, seam binding and white flower shape flat backed pearl.

WOC have added loads of new goodies to the website, and some of the new colour combinations are simply sublime!  You can check out the new goodies here.
